Scott Rader Library Dictator 2012 Albums of Note

December 15, 2012

Right now I’m on the road … headed to Texas. While the wife plays SpellTower and the parents point out funny signs, I thought I’d write a quick post.

While this is a list of favorite things from 2012 … it is not, unfortunately, books. I earned a MLIS degree this year and didn’t have much time for pleasure reading (although I will post a brief write-up on my two favorite 2012 books). I did listen to quite a bit of music, especially after I discovered the wonders of Spotify.

I diversified my listening and this list is pretty wide-ranging. Heck, it includes Dwight Yoakam (thanks to a Facebook friend).

This list is not a “best of” per say. It’s really just albums I liked this year. Some are great and will probably endure, but some were just fun albums that I probably won’t remember in a few years.

To that end I didn’t want to make a top ten or anything like that. This is just a list of 50 albums that I liked this year. They are organized alphabetically by artist. Check out the list after the jump and also listen to it on Spotify.

Please tell me what you liked this year. I’d love to check out more stuff.

Oh. Two more notes. 1.) Brandon Duncan of Sequence of Prime is a friend. While that may constitute a conflict of interest … his album shreds so listen to it. 2.) Including The Weeknd on a Best of 2012 is a cheat, since all of Trilogy came out last year as separate mixtapes. But he is so talented that people to listen to him now.
